Therapeutic Yoga : Yoga Breathing Exercises to Prevent Cough & Cold
Will working out prevent colds?
Reader Question: Can exercise really improve your immunity?
An active day just might keep colds at bay. Exercise can't cure the common cold, but it may help keep you from getting one in the first place. According to a recent study published in the journalMedicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, active people (who got at least 30 minutes of exercise or other moderate activity, like moving the lawn) every day caught 23 percent fewer colds than those who were sedentary.
Exercise stimulates the immune cells, but you need to do it regularly to reap the benefits because the effects only last a few hours. Just don't overdo it: Extreme physical exertion actually weakens the immune system, which is why marathon runners often get sick a few days after the big event.
